Evidence For The Power of Distance Healing

In a 2005 study by Achterberg et al., functional MRI was performed on 11 subjects while they received “distant intentionality” (DI = sending thoughts at a distance) from 11 healers. The recipients were separated from the healers, and unaware of when DI would be sent at 2-minute intervals.

Significant differences were seen in blood flow on the MRI (correlating to brain activity/function) during the times that healing was sent. Specific areas of the brain were seen to activate: the anterior & middle cingulate area, precuneus, and frontal area. These centers relate to emotion, motivation, information integration, and response control, among other functions.
